How can I configure Web Crossing as a backup email server? |
Answer |
Usually mail-servers listed at the second or higher priority in an MX record will be configured to buffer all incoming mail for that domain until the first-priority mailserver is back up, and then relay them to it. Users sometimes want to know how to configure Web Crossing servers to do this.
In the "Email Domains" section of the control panel add:
xyz.com redirectTo=@xyz.com
where xyz.com is the domain for which this Web Crossing instance is the
secondary mail server. Mail for any address at xyz.com will be accepted, and normally it would be immediately forwarded. Of course, for this usage mail will only arrive when the primary xyz.com mail server is down, so it will be stored by Web Crossing until the primary comes back up again.
