I need a Domain Name

My hosted site is something like http://isuzu911.elliptics.com or http://10.0.0.5

I want a domain name, please set this up, so it is something like http://www.myCoolNewSite.com

Answer:

In order to have a domain name for your site, you need to contract with someone to arrange for DNS (name server) services.

Elliptics does not provide DNS services.

Generally speaking the process goes like this:




1. Decide on an available domain name.
   
2. Find a service to host your DNS and provide them with the IP address of your Web Crossing hosted site and your domain name. They will also provide you with the IP addresses of their DNS servers.
   
3. Register your domain name with any of a number of registration services, and provide them with all the required information. Many such services will offer DNS as well.
   
4. Once your DNS has propogated, enter your new site name into the SERVER NAME setting in the Web Services control panel, and, if you use any email services, enter the domain name into Email Services/"Email Domains".
