Question:
Answer:
Installing Web Crossing on a Unix server requires shell access; installing on a Windows or MacOS server requires console access. You cannot install Web Crossing if you have only ftp access or if your server runs on Windows or MacOS - you'll need the assistance of the server administrator.
Hosted ISP accounts that don't include shell access also frequently forbid daemons (persistent processes) like Web Crossing. It would probably be a good idea to check the terms of service in your agreement with your ISP before you put a lot of effort into installing Web Crossing or a similar industrial-strength conferencing product.
