Here is the most current Windows README.TXT file as packaged in recent installers (updated 4/20/05).

Example
Web Crossing (tm) Installation Overview

Release 5.x

The Web Crossing Home Page at http://www.webcrossing.com
provides detailed information on the various versions of
Web Crossing as well as new features.

System Requirements

Web Crossing for Windows NT requires Windows NT4, 2000, or 9x

Web Crossing has not been tested in Windows XP.

While Web Crossing will run on Windows 95 and 98, we do not recommend
these consumer oriented operating systems for production use. Neither
of these are robust enough for much more than basic development work.

20MB free RAM, 38 MB disk space. This will grow as your site grows.

Your Windows Machine must have a full TCP/IP connection to
a LAN for local serving and/or to the Internet for serving
        on the Internet.

We Currently Support the following HTTP/Web Servers on Windows NT+,
however Web Crossing Inc. strongly recommends using Web Crossing as
a stand-alone Web server due to inherent performance considerations
with the various CGI interfaces:

        - Netscape Server v1.13, Commerce, Enterprise, FastTrack.
        - WebSite v1.1 from O'Reilly and Associates
Make sure that you have upgraded to at least their latest 'C' Patch
        - Purveyor v1.2 from Process Software Corporation
        - Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) v1.0 to 4

At this time Web Crossing does not support IIS5 under Windows 2000, but
works perfectly and makes most efficient use of your server resources
as a stand alone web server in Direct Web Service Mode.

To Install/Upgrade Web Crossing:

        FAQ: http://faq.webcrossing.com/WebX/Installation

- First download Web Crossing for Windows from http://www.webcrossing.com

If Upgrading:

- BE SURE YOUR LICENSE PERMITS USE OF THIS VERSION!
If your license is not valid for the new version you may irreversibly
change your database! Check with orders@webcrossing.com
- IF YOU HAVE MADE CUSTOM ICONS - BACKUP YOUR "Images" DIRECTORY(s) FIRST!!!
- Shut down the Web Crossing server.
          Start/Programs/Web Crossing/Web Crossing Configuration
Press the Stop Web Crossing button.

New Install or Upgrade:

- Run the new version of webx-xxx-std-nt.exe you downloaded prior.

If upgrading and Web Crossing says:
"A WebCrossing Service has been detected. Would you like to remove
             it before installing"
and there was only one Web Crossing server installed, answer
          "Yes".

If you have more than one server installed, see
"Running Multiple Web Crossing Servers" below.

Depending on your OS, you will be asked a series of questions
by the installer regarding machine IP addresses, port, Web Server.

          If upgrading:
When asked where to place the files, make sure that you put the
ORIGINAL path where you first installed Web Crossing.
This will ensure that the files will replace the older versions.
          Typically this is C:\Program Files\WebCrossing

- If upgrading, your original Web Crossing database will be left intact and no information
  will be lost.

Getting Started
---------------
When the installer finishes, your browser will open automatically and you will
be connected to your Web Crossing server. For new installations, read and accept
the various license pages and install your certificate. If for some reason your
browser does not open, simply open your browser and navigate to the IP address
where Web Crossing is running.

For upgrades, you may need to enter your new certificate into the
"Install new certificate." control panel.

Running Multiple Web Crossing Servers
-------------------------------------
Running more than one Web Crossing server permits you to run separate
private conferences. You may run multiple Web Crossing servers on the
same Computer. Each Web Crossing server requires a separate certificate,
a unique installation directory, and a unique "script name"
(as requested by the installer). Of course only you can tell whether
or not your computer has enough resources to handle multiple servers.

When installing or upgrading multiple servers, it is important you not
only install into the proper (unique) directory, but you must also use
the proper "script name". The script name you choose (chose) at installation
time is used also as the name of the Windows Service and is what allows
windows to uniquely identify and monitor each server installation.

By default the installer looks for a service named "webx", and if it finds
one will alert you. If you do not wish to upgrade the "webx" service, then
choose "No" at the "A WebCrossing Service has been detected. Would you like
to remove it before installing" prompt, and be sure to enter the proper script
name for the service you wish to upgrade when so requested.

You can view a list of all services in your computer by using the Windows
Services Control Panel.
